Living in Lymington

There are plenty of people who love yachts living in Lymington, but it’s by no means a pre-requisite. This beautiful Georgian seaside town was voted one of the best places to live in Britain in 2018. It was chosen because of its shipbuilding heritage, it’s glorious cobbled High Street and the range of shops, walks, leisure amenities and local eateries available.

Schepens is a local Hampshire moving company and has been providing Lymington removals for over a century now. It’s one of our favourite places to visit, and we love the approach to the town, winding through the New Forest. But we don’t live there, so we get a very partial view. In order to find out what living in Lymington was actually like, we asked some of the client we helped move there. Here’s what they told us.

Thinking of Moving to Lyndhurst in the New Forest?

Does the idea of packing up your London home and moving to a thatched cottage, or Edwardian villa in Lyndhurst sound too good to be true? There’s now a growing number of people who’ve taken the leap and are enjoying a quality of life they could only dream of in their London semis. They’ll tell you that there are adjustments to be made, but that the pay-off is well worth it.

The New Forest is unique in its landscape and history. It was originally the hunting ground of William the Conqueror who put in place a management system to safeguard the landscape. It’s lasted to the present day. Visitors now enjoy protected heathland, littered with ponies, cattle and pigs – yes pigs – that wander free. And the area is now protected as a National Park.

Schepens Provides Removals to Tuckton, Bournemouth

Bournemouth is very much a 21st century success story. A few decades ago it was considered a sleepy, seaside town inhabited by retirees. Its contemporary image couldn’t be further from that. Bournemouth has acquired the nickname ‘Silicon Beach’ on the south coast because of the opportunities it affords in the fintech, digital agency and software sectors. Each year it hosts two major events for the tech sector; the BFX Festival and Digital Wave.

Bournemouth remains a stunning place to live, whether you move there for tech opportunities, or to improve your well-being. It has more than its fair share of sandy beaches, and receives 25% more sun than the rest of the country. It’s ideally placed for excursions to the beautiful New Forest, and its 2 universities means that the average age of residents is now a youthful 34!
