REMOVALS SALISBURY

Local Schepens Removals in Salisbury

Thinking about removals to Salisbury? The ancient city was described as “a divinely attractive and welcoming place” when it won the Sunday Times Best Place to Live in the UK back in 2019. More recently, the accent was on Salisbury as a great place for families; in March 2022 the city was declared one of the top 10 family friendly locations in the UK. No wonder it’s a desirable location for movers looking to enhance their quality of life.

Schepens has been providing Salisbury removals for over a century now. Our movers have been young families leaving London for a larger property, retirees fulfilling a lifetime dream, and locals moving into the city or out to work. We asked some of them, what it’s like to live in a city like Salisbury. Here’s what they told us.

A Human Size City Centre

Having spent years travelling to and from work on buses and the tube, Salisbury is a breath of fresh air – literally. You can walk everywhere. I don’t live in the centre, but I walk in each day to work. Once you get to Blue Boar Row, everything is easily in reach – shops, pubs, restaurants. It’s how a city should be.

Lots of Tourists – But You Can See Why!

Salisbury is really absurdly beautiful, which is why people come from far and wide to enjoy it. I get that the city needs tourism to survive but navigating around huge tour buses belching out exhaust fumes can get a bit much in the summer. I shouldn’t complain, we get it to ourselves for lots of the year and it’s a really lovely place to live.

Lots for Kids to Do

When you’re surrounded by the Wiltshire countryside, family outings are pretty simple. Apart from walks, we’ve punted on the river, explored Avebury stone circle which is nearby (unlike Salisbury, you can touch the stones), done lots of stuff at the Salisbury Museum, and seen quite a few shows at the Playhouse

Not a Bad Commute

It takes just 90 minutes to travel between London Waterloo and Salisbury, and there’s 30 trains on average every weekday. Thankfully, I only go into town a few times each month; doing the journey every day would be a bit unmanageable. If you can work at home, Salisbury is an amazing place to do it from.
