Scandinavia performs strongly on global rankings, and Sweden is normally included in the top ten countries for happiness and quality of life; they were even voted the nicest people in the world recently! Moving to Sweden to work offers professionals an opportunity to experience a country that does business, and everyday life, extremely well.

This embrace of diversity makes it a good place to locate businesses; the World Bank currently ranks Sweden as one of the top 10 countries for ease of doing business.

Stress-Free Removals to Sweden From Schepens

Schepens has been supporting people moving to Sweden since the early 20th century and we continue to make weekly runs to Stockholm and locations across the country. A number of our movers, having started out on a temporary contract, now live in Sweden. We asked them to tell us about moving to Sweden to work:

“I had my first child back in the UK and gave birth to my second in Sweden. The parental support is phenomenal; I got 480 days which I split with my partner. For most of my leave I was receiving 80% of my salary. My daughter’s now at nursery and we also receive a generous subsidy on the fees.”

“I don’t think anything can prepare you for the diversity you can encounter here in Stockholm. I’m a developer, so I knew that I would be working with peers from around the world, but I’m really blown away. The environment is totally creative, we use English as a common language, which is great for me, and I feel like I’m working with the best.”

“The first year after moving to Sweden to work, I started to learn Swedish, but didn’t take it too seriously. Gradually it dawned on me that I was missing out on so much by not knowing the language. People were friendly enough, but I was always an outsider. Once I started to make the effort, I got to know other people better, and I started to feel at home here.”
