Life in Bournemouth

What is it Like, Living in Bournemouth?

Every year, thousands of holiday makers descend on the south coast, and Bournemouth with its golden beaches, is one of the prime locations. Beyond the holiday season, though, Bournemouth has managed to pull of the more difficult task of being considered a great place to live. Situated on what has become known as ‘the coast with the most’ life in Bournemouth is attracting lots of attention, particularly from London movers looking to relocate.

As a local moving company, Schepens has been providing Bournemouth removals for over 100 years, and it’s more popular now than we’ve ever known it! Once families make the move to the coast, they tend to settle there. So, we asked 4 of our moves who now live in there, how good life in Bournemouth really is.

Bournemouth is a Beautiful Town

“I’ve never lived by the sea before, and I’ll never live anywhere else now. We moved to Bournemouth because it’s more than just a resort. It has international language schools that attract foreign students, a university, excellent schools, and several big brands (Tesco, JP Morgan, Siemens) with head offices here. The place is lively all year round, and the beaches have a way of putting any problems into their proper perspective.”

A Lively Town Centre

“Life in Bournemouth is brilliant; there’s sun, sea, and sandy beaches. The town centre is lively and it’s proactively reinventing itself as a leisure destination rather than slowly being hollowed out by the internet. I recommend taking the chain ferry to Poole for a day out; it always feels like an adventure no matter how often you do it.”

A Prime Destination for All Age Groups

“Bournemouth has transformed itself from being a ‘retirement town’ into being a prime destination for every age group. The town centre is attractive, and it’s pedestrianised. The pleasure gardens are really lovely throughout the year. There’s plenty of supermarkets, leisure facilities, sports facilities. And you’ve got the beach on one side and the New Forest on the other!”

Our Children Take the Beaches for Granted

“We’ve lived in Bournemouth for 8 years now. We moved here from London when our children were little, so it’s normal to them to have the beach to play on. For us, it’s still a novelty! It’s a great town for families; we love the air show in late summer, but there are things going on for children in the parks from April through to Halloween.”

Working in Dorset

Life in Bournemouth isn’t just about walking on the beach and enjoying the local countryside! If you’re wondering what the employment prospects in Dorset are like, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised!

Dorset is the UK’s 10th largest urban area, and it’s home to a dynamic business community with around 52,000 different companies. This diverse range of businesses includes both internationally recognised corporations and rapidly expanding local enterprises.
