International Removals to France

International Removals to France | Moving to France | UK to France Removal Company

International Removals to France

There are currently five million people from the UK who have decided to make their homes abroad. When looking for a new start, or a place to retire, the British tend to favour sunny climates, but other deciding factors include a lower cost of living, a relaxed pace of life, and easy access to the UK in order to maintain contact with friends and family.

France is the seventh most popular destination for the British, with nearly 173,000 expats currently residing in the country. Obviously its proximity is a major plus, and the Channel Tunnel has even made it possible to commute from northern France. It’s also a huge landmass offering a range of locations, from the stylish, sunny south, to the Alps, to the northern beaches of Normandy and Brittany.

Schepens for Removals to France and Storage

Ideally, you will be looking for your furniture and household items to arrive at your new home in France on the day you move in to your new property. Schepens plans for the ideal, which is why your Move Co-Ordinator is such an important part of the process. Our removals fleet travels to France every day, which means that we can offer flexible scheduling and the option of dedicated or shared containers.

Over a century of experience has taught us that every single move is unique. Early on in your removals planning your Move Co-Ordinator will discuss what items you will be taking with you, and whether there are any non-standard items such as musical instruments, or valuable antiques which require bespoke transportation. Many of our clients put some of their furniture or goods in storage; we can arrange door-to-door service and secure storage facilities across the UK.

House Prices in France

A few years ago it seemed that everyone had a story about a rural French property they had ‘bought for peanuts’. Those days are long gone but £100,000 will still buy a 3 bedroom property in the rural areas of the northern French coast and regions such as the Massif Central are even cheaper. In Paris, as you would expect, prices are sky-high with even 1 bedroom flats starting at £350,000.

Working in France

As long as Britain remains a part of the EU there’s no need to apply for a visa to work. After our exit in March 2019 it’s thought that people from the UK already living in France will be able to stay, but as yet it’s unclear whether the automatic right to work will be revoked. After Brexit it’s most likely that it will be necessary to apply for a visa if you wish to live and work in France.

Heathcare in France

The healthcare provision in France is has a number one ranking by the World Health Organisation, and it has a great reputation amongst French users for efficiency. British expats need to apply for an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) in order to access French healthcare. The EHIC will cover up to 70% of the costs, and many Brits take out additional personal health insurance to cover high medical bills and get wider access to healthcare services.

Education in France

There is excellent education provision in France from kindergarten right through to higher education. The main problem encountered by British expats is the language barrier. If you want your children taught in English, there are International Schools available in the large cities where the curriculum is similar to that taught in the UK and the teaching language is English.

“A week on from our furniture delivery here in France we have finished unpacking! Everything arrived with no breakages or mishaps. Please pass on our special thanks to Baz and Perry who were simply superb. Kind regards Kit – Chandlers ford, Southampton, to the south of France”
