We have moved 9 times in our 42 years of married life and I can say without hesitation this was the most efficient move we have ever had, shame the solicitors ‘closed for lunch’ and for the want of a press on a computer button held up the days proceedings down the line. I can’t praise this company enough.

From the first contact with Janis to arrange for a quotation to the final wave good-by to the removal crew at the end of the day.

An appointment was made for Paul Schepens to visit us for a quotation on Friday 15 April between 11:00 and 12:00. He arrived within the appointed time looking smart and being courteous; he viewed all parts of our bungalow including the well stocked roof void, garage (a grossly overstocked storage area), garden sheds, greenhouses and garden, taking notes and measurements as he went along (the only person to be so precise), including the garden plants of which there were many.

I am a notorious hoarder and the quantity of tools and ‘things that will come in handy one day’ that have been collected over 40 years in the building trade would have been enough to thwart any amateurs in the removal business!

The quote was mid range of the five I had and I was so impressed with the explanation of how the move would be executed considering we were gong to do our own packing, Schepens was number one for me. Paul explained they had ‘Hanging Cases’ for the wardrobe contents, ‘Picture Boxes’ for our large wall hung mirrors, special care with an antique lead glazed bookcase and even ‘Mattress Bags’ for the bedding. He also explained how the plants would be transported.

Communication between Janis, Paul and me was first class from quotation to removal day on the 9th June.

On the day of the move the crew of four company uniformed men led by Chris in one of Schepens large spotlessly clean Scania removal lorries arrived at 07:45 and started instantly to load up, the speed the entire bungalow contents disappeared in the lorry was amazing, then came the shocker of the garage but once again hard work and efficiency it soon all went into the lorry and by 09:50 it was all done, a final sweep up and around 10am we waved good–by to a life’s content disappearing into the distance.

On arrival at our destination some 100 miles north at 12:30’ish the day started to go down hill as the efficiency of the solicitors didn’t match that of the removal company and a wait of over two and a half hours for the key release, frantic phone calls didn’t seem to speed things up at all. Once my wife and I returned from the town with the keys Chris and his crew worked like crazy, they were a mere blur as they dashed in and out of the property and although running out of time they still reassembled the dismantled furniture and put every thing exactly where we wanted it.

In summing up I can’t praise Schepens Removals and especially Chris and his crew enough, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Schepens to anybody who wants a trouble free house move.
